Before you start, ensure you have all the necessary tools and materials:
- New Gearbox Oil (refer to your vehicle's owner manual for the correct type)
- Oil Drain Pan
- Wrench/Spanner
- Funnel
- Rags
Step 1: Prepare Your Car
- Park your car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the gearbox.
- Place the oil drain pan beneath the drain plug.
Step 2: Drain Old Gearbox Oil
- Use a wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug.
- Allow the old gearbox oil to drain completely.
- Once the oil has drained, replace the drain plug.
Step 3: Add New Gearbox Oil
- Locate the oil filler plug on the top of the gearbox.
- Use a funnel to add new gearbox oil to the gearbox until the level is at the correct level (refer to your vehicle's owner manual for the correct level).
- Replace the filler plug.
Step 4: Clean-Up and Disposal
- Use rags to clean any oil spills.
- Dispose of the old gearbox oil according to your local regulations.
Step 5: Test Drive
- Take your car for a short test drive to check the new gearbox oil is operating correctly.
