Starting from a standstill:
1. Make sure the clutch pedal is fully depressed and the engine is running.
2. Pull the gear lever towards you and move it to the extreme left position, which will engage first gear.
Upshifting:
3. With the engine at a low RPM, release the clutch pedal slowly while continuing to apply pressure to the accelerator pedal. This will allow the truck to move forward in first gear.
4. Once the engine reaches the desired RPM (typically between 1500 to 2000 RPM), lift off slightly the accelerator pedal, fully depress the clutch pedal, and move the gear lever to the next gear position to the right.
5. Release the clutch pedal slowly while continuing to apply pressure to the accelerator pedal, allowing the truck to move forward in the new gear.
Downshifting:
6. While driving, apply a slight press to the clutch pedal to reduce engine speed.
7. Once the engine reaches a lower RPM (typically below 1500 RPM) fully depress the clutch pedal and quickly move the gear lever to the next gear position to the left.
8. Release the clutch pedal slowly while continuing to press on the accelerator pedal to allow the truck to move forward in the new gear.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 until you reach the desired gear.
Remember:
- Always release the clutch pedal slowly and smoothly to prevent damage to the gears and transmission.
- Avoid excessive downshifting, as this can cause engine damage and shorten the transmission's life.
