- PCV valve (Volvo part number 30736127)
- PCV hose (Volvo part number 30633312)
- PCV grommet (Volvo part number 9165615)
Tools Needed:
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- 10mm socket wrench
- Ratchet
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. This will prevent the engine from starting while you are working on it.
2. Locate the PCV valve on the back of the engine, near the top of the valve cover. It is a small, black plastic valve with a single hose connection.
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the hose clamp that secures the PCV hose to the valve.
4. Pull the hose off of the valve and discard it.
5. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the PCV valve in place.
6. Remove the old PCV valve and discard it.
7. Install the new PCV valve by inserting it into the hole in the valve cover and tightening the two screws.
8. Reinstall the PCV hose by pushing it onto the valve and securing it with the hose clamp.
9. Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery.
Tips:
- Before you start, clean the area around the PCV valve to make it easier to work.
- Be careful not to drop the screws when you are removing them.
- If the hose is stuck, you can use a little bit of WD-40 to loosen it up.
