Once you have gathered your tools, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent any electrical shock while you are working on the carburetor.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. This is usually held in place by a few screws or bolts.
3. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
4. Disconnect the throttle cable from the carburetor.
5. Remove the bolts that hold the carburetor to the intake manifold.
6. Carefully lift the carburetor off of the intake manifold. Be careful not to damage the carburetor or the intake manifold.
7. Clean the carburetor with carburetor cleaner. Be sure to clean all of the jets and passages.
8. Replace the carburetor gasket.
9. Reinstall the carburetor onto the intake manifold.
10. Reconnect the throttle cable, fuel line, and air cleaner assembly.
11. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
12. Start the engine and check for leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the bolts that hold the carburetor in place.
