The Idle Air Solenoid (IAS) is responsible for controlling the amount of air that enters the engine at idle. It is located on the intake manifold, and is connected to the engine's computer. To disable the IAS, simply unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid.
Step 2: Disconnect the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) sensor
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) sensor monitors the amount of soot that is collected in the DPF. If the DPF becomes too full, it will trigger the idle shutdown system in order to prevent the engine from overheating. To disable the DPF sensor, simply unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
Step 3: Start the engine
With the IAS and DPF sensor disconnected, the idle shutdown system will be bypassed and the engine will start normally.
Note: It is important to note that bypassing the idle shutdown system may cause your engine to run rough at idle. It is also possible that the engine may overheat if it is not used for extended periods of time.
