1. Open the hood of your vehicle and secure it.
2. Locate the engine block. It is the large metal component at the front of the engine compartment.
3. Look at the driver's side (left side) of the engine block.
4. Identify the area between the cylinder head and the oil pan.
5. The knock sensor is usually mounted in this area. It is a small cylindrical or square-shaped sensor with one or two wires connected to it.
6. You may need a flashlight to see the knock sensor clearly if the engine bay is dark.
