1. Pull the fuel door release lever inside the vehicle several times. If the fuel door does not open ensure that the release lever is not broken.
2. Inspect the fuel door for damage or obstructions that may be preventing it from opening.
3. Check the fuel door cable and make sure it is connected correctly. If the cable is disconnected, reconnect it.
4. If the cable is connected properly, lubricate it with a silicone-based lubricant or apply WD-40 to loosen the mechanism and enable the fuel door to open freely.
5. If these steps do not resolve the issue, the fuel door actuator motor may be faulty and need replacement. To replace the actuator, remove the interior trim panel near the fuel door and disconnect the electrical connector from the actuator motor. Unscrew and remove the actuator from the vehicle, then install the new actuator and reconnect the electrical connector.
6. Reattach the interior trim panel and test the fuel door to ensure that it opens properly.
