- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A flat head screwdriver
- A 10mm wrench
- A 12mm wrench
Instructions
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the four Phillips head screws that hold the cam cover in place.
3. Gently pry the cam cover off the engine using the flat head screwdriver.
4. Remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the camshaft in place.
5. Remove the camshaft from the engine.
6. Remove the two 12mm bolts that hold the cam chain tensioner in place.
7. Remove the cam chain tensioner from the engine.
8. Clean the cam cover, camshaft, and cam chain tensioner with a degreaser.
9. Inspect the cam cover, camshaft, and cam chain tensioner for any damage.
10. Replace any damaged parts.
11. Reinstall the cam chain tensioner, camshaft, and cam cover in reverse order of removal.
12. Tighten all bolts to the specified torque.
13. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Tips
- Be sure to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery before starting work to avoid any electrical accidents.
- Use a thin, flat-head screwdriver to pry the cam cover off the engine. Be careful not to damage the cam cover or the engine.
- Replace the cam cover gasket to ensure a proper seal.
- Tighten all bolts to the specified torque to prevent leaks and ensure proper operation.
