Who bought Harley in 1981?

In 1981, Harley-Davidson was purchased by 13 senior managers of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This group, led by Vaughn Beals and Willie G. Davidson, was able to purchase the company from AMF, which had acquired Harley-Davidson in 1969. The ESOP was structured to give employees ownership of the company over time, and by 1998, Harley-Davidson was fully owned by its employees.
