1. Pull the emergency release handle inside your car.
- The handle will be located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
2. Slide the metal spring latch inside the engine bay.
- To locate the latch, look for a flat, metal rectangular lever just behind the grille on the driver’s side.
- Lift the latch and slide it to the right to release the hood.
- Then, walk back to the front of the car.
3. Lift the hood from the outside of your car.
- Insert your fingers between the hood and the bumper at the center of the hood.
- Pull the release tab up to unlatch the hood.
- Lift the hood, then use the prop rod to hold the hood open.
Your BMW 525's hood is now open.
