How do you know if the car is front wheel drive or rear drive?

Front-wheel drive:

- The engine is mounted transversely (sideways) in the engine compartment.

- The transmission is mounted next to the engine.

- The driveshafts run from the transmission to the front wheels.

- The front wheels are larger than the rear wheels.

Rear-wheel drive:

- The engine is mounted longitudinally (front-to-back) in the engine compartment.

- The transmission is mounted behind the engine.

- The driveshaft runs from the transmission to the rear wheels.

- The rear wheels are larger than the front wheels.

All-wheel drive:

- The engine can power all four wheels.

- There are two driveshafts, one that runs to the front wheels and one that runs to the rear wheels.

- All four wheels are the same size.
