If arrested can police search your car without a warrant?

Generally, police need a warrant to search your car. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, the police may be able to search your car without a warrant if:

- They have probable cause to believe that your car contains evidence of a crime.

- They are searching your car incident to a lawful arrest.

- They are conducting a search for weapons or contraband.

- The search is conducted pursuant to a valid consent form.

If the police search your car without a warrant, they must have a valid reason for doing so. If they do not, the evidence they find may not be admissible in court.
