1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine.
Ensure the parking brake is engaged and the vehicle is in Park (for automatic transmissions) or neutral (for manual transmissions).
2. Locate the tail light assembly that needs to be replaced.
The tail light assembly is located on the rear of the vehicle, on either the driver's side or passenger's side.
3. Remove the two bolts that secure the tail light assembly.
These bolts are usually located on the inside of the trunk or cargo area, behind the tail light assembly. You will need a wrench or socket set to remove the bolts.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the tail light assembly.
There is usually a small tab or button that you can press to release the connector.
5. Remove the old tail light assembly from the vehicle.
Once the bolts are removed and the electrical connector is disconnected, you can carefully pull the tail light assembly straight out from the vehicle.
6. Transfer the bulbs from the old tail light assembly to the new tail light assembly.
If the new tail light assembly does not come with bulbs, you will need to transfer the bulbs from the old tail light assembly to the new one.
7. Install the new tail light assembly.
Insert the new tail light assembly into the vehicle, making sure to align the mounting holes with the bolts.
8. Reinstall the two bolts that secure the tail light assembly.
Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector to the tail light assembly.
Press the connector into place until you hear a click.
10. Test the tail light assembly to make sure it is working properly.
Turn on the headlights and brake lights to ensure that the tail light is illuminated.
That's it! You have now successfully replaced the tail light on your 2006 Nissan Pathfinder LE.
