How do you set points on a Mazda B which has points?

To adjust points on a Mazda B with points, follow these steps:

1. Locate the distributor cap. It's usually round, black, and mounted on the side of the engine near the top.

2. Remove the distributor cap by turning it counterclockwise and lifting it off.

3. Underneath the distributor cap, you'll see the distributor points. They're usually made of silver or brass and have a small gap between them.

4. Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the points. The correct gap is specified in your vehicle's owner's manual.

5. If the gap is incorrect, use a flat-head screwdriver to adjust the points. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the gap or counterclockwise to decrease the gap.

6. Once the gap is correct, replace the distributor cap.

7. Start the engine and check the timing. If the timing is incorrect, adjust the distributor until the engine runs smoothly.

Tips:

* Make sure the engine is off before you start working on the points.

* Be careful not to drop any of the small parts when you're working on the points.

* If you're not comfortable working on automotive electrical systems, you can take your car to a mechanic to have the points adjusted.
