1. Park the car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Engage the parking brake.
3. Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
4. Locate the brake light switch. It is usually located on the brake pedal assembly.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch.
6. Use a wrench to loosen the mounting nuts or bolts that hold the brake light switch in place.
7. Remove the old brake light switch from the vehicle.
8. Install the new brake light switch in the reverse order of removal.
9. Tighten the mounting nuts or bolts to the proper torque specification.
10. Reconnect the electrical connector to the brake light switch.
11. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
12. Test the brake lights to ensure that they are working properly.
