Tools Needed:
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver (or a plastic prying tool)
- Replacement center brake light (compatible with your Toyota Camry model)
Instructions:
1. Park the car in a safe and well-lit location, and turn off the engine.
Engage the parking brake for safety.
2. Locate the center brake light assembly.
In the Toyota Camry, the center brake light is usually located on the rear windshield, at the top of the rear window.
3. Remove the trunk lid liner.
- In most Camry models, accessing the center brake light requires removing the trunk liner or panel.
- Use the flathead screwdriver or plastic prying tool to gently pry the edges of the trunk liner around the brake light.
- Work your way around the edges, being careful not to break any plastic clips or tabs.
- Once all the clips are released, remove the trunk liner, setting it aside.
4. Remove the old brake light.
- With the trunk lid liner removed, you should be able to access the rear of the center brake light.
- Locate the screws holding the brake light assembly in place.
- Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen and remove these screws.
- Once the screws are removed, carefully remove the old brake light from its housing.
5. Install the new brake light.
- Place the new brake light into the housing, ensuring that it's properly seated.
- Replace the screws you removed earlier, securely tightening them to hold the brake light in place.
6. Test the center brake light.
- Ask someone to press the brake pedal while you check that the new center brake light is functioning correctly.
7. Replace the trunk lid liner.
- Once you've confirmed the new brake light works, reinstall the trunk lid liner.
- Press the liner back into place, ensuring the clips engage securely.
