1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold trim cover.
3. Locate the camshaft position (CMP) sensor on the rear of the cylinder head.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor.
5. Remove the 10 mm bolt holding the CMP sensor in place.
6. Remove the CMP sensor from the engine.
3.0L SOHC Engine
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Locate the CMP sensor on the front of the cylinder head, just below the intake manifold.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor.
5. Remove the 12 mm bolt holding the CMP sensor in place.
6. Remove the CMP sensor from the engine.
4.0L SOHC Engine
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Locate the CMP sensor on the front of the cylinder head, just above the oil filter.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor.
5. Remove the 12 mm bolt holding the CMP sensor in place.
6. Remove the CMP sensor from the engine.
5.0L V8 Engine
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Locate the CMP sensor on the front of the engine, above the oil pan.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor.
5. Remove the 12 mm bolt holding the CMP sensor in place.
6. Remove the CMP sensor from the engine.
