2. Locate the air filter housing. It is usually a black plastic box located near the top of the engine.
3. Remove the air filter housing cover.
4. Locate the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. It is a small, cylindrical device located inside the air filter housing.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAF sensor.
6. Remove the two screws that hold the MAF sensor in place.
7. Pull the MAF sensor out of the air filter housing.
8. Inspect the MAF sensor for damage. If the sensor is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
9. Clean the MAF sensor with a MAF sensor cleaner.
10. Reinstall the MAF sensor and reconnect the electrical connector.
11. Replace the air filter housing cover.
12. Close the hood of your vehicle.
