Why do car windows get foggy in cold weather when you are not it?

When the temperature outside a car is low, the air becomes less capable of holding moisture. Conversely, when the temperature inside the car is warmer, it can hold more moisture. If there is a significant difference between the temperature inside the car and the outside temperature, the warm, moist air inside the car can condense on the cooler surfaces, such as the windows. This condensation forms a thin layer of fog on the inside of the windows, obstructing visibility.
