* A c clip
* A screwdriver
* A hammer
2. Prepare the gear shifter. Shift the gear shifter into the neutral position. If the gear shifter is difficult to move, you may need to use a screwdriver to pry it into place.
3. Remove the old c clip. Use a screwdriver to pry the old c clip off of the gear shifter. Be careful not to lose the c clip.
4. Install the new c clip. Place the new c clip on the gear shifter. Make sure that the c clip is seated properly in the groove.
5. Use a hammer to tap the c clip into place. Tap the c clip lightly with a hammer until it is seated firmly in place.
6. Test the gear shifter. Shift the gear shifter through all of the gears to make sure that the c clip is holding the gear shifter in place.
