1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the distributor cap by removing the 10mm bolts.
3. Turn the engine until the number 1 cylinder is at top dead center (TDC). This can be done by aligning the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley with the index mark on the engine case.
4. Locate the points. They are located under the rotor in the distributor.
5. Loosen the 13mm bolt that holds the points in place.
6. Insert the feeler gauge between the points. The gap should be between .016" and .018".
7. Tighten the 13mm bolt to hold the points in place.
8. Put the distributor cap back in place and reconnect the battery.
