Locate the petcock. It is usually located on the bottom of the fuel tank, near the carburetor.
Turn the fuel valve to the "off" position. This will prevent fuel from leaking out when you remove the petcock.
Place the motorcycle on the center stand. This will make it easier to access the petcock.
Remove the fuel line. Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the fuel line in place. Then, pull the fuel line off of the petcock.
Remove the petcock mounting bolts. There are usually two bolts that hold the petcock in place. Use a wrench to loosen these bolts.
Remove the petcock. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull the petcock out of the fuel tank.
Clean the petcock and fuel line. Use a cleaning agent and a brush to remove any dirt or debris from the petcock and fuel line.
Reinstall the petcock. Insert the petcock into the fuel tank and replace the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
Reattach the fuel line. Connect the fuel line to the petcock and tighten the nut.
Start the motorcycle. Turn the fuel valve to the "on" position and start the motorcycle. Check for any leaks.
