How do you fix the pull cord on a pocket bike?

To fix a pull cord on a pocket bike, follow these steps:

1. Locate the recoil starter: It's usually a round housing located on the side of the engine near the cylinder head.

2. Remove the starter housing cover: It's commonly secured by bolts or screws that can be removed with a screwdriver or socket wrench.

3. Check the cord reel assembly: Look for wear, damage, or any obstructions to the pull cord. Remove any accumulated dirt or debris.

4. Replace the pull cord if necessary: If the cord is broken or excessively worn, it will need to be replaced. You can get a replacement recoil starter cord, which typically comes with a new spring assembly.

5. Wind the new cord: Hold the cord firmly as you wrap it around the spool of the starter housing. Wind it several times until it's secure, leaving a decent "tail" to pull later.

6. Reattach the spring: The recoil starter utilizes a return spring to pull the cord back after each pull. Securely attach the spring to the designated hook or fitting.

7. Reinstall the starter housing cover: Align the screw holes or locking tabs appropriately when putting the cover back and tighten the bolts securely.

8. Check its operation: Give the pull cord a quick pull without starting the engine yet. The cord should retract smoothly when released. Ensure there's enough cord to allow it to start comfortably.

That's it! Once you've ensured a functional pull cord, you can start and ride your pocket bike once again. Regularly check the condition of the pull cord and its assembly during general maintenance routines for hassle-free use.
