How do you shift into the second tier of gears On a 1981 Honda CB900C motorcycle?
The 1981 Honda CB900C motorcycle has a five speed transmission. The first tier of gears includes first gear, neutral and second gear. To shift into the second tier, which includes third, fourth and fifth gears, you must first be in second gear. To shift from second gear to third gear, release the throttle and pull in the clutch lever with your left hand. Then use your left foot to press down on the gear shift lever. There may be some tension on the gear lever to overcome with your foot, but push steadily and firmly. You will feel and hear the transmission shift into third gear. Finally, release the clutch lever slowly and apply throttle with your right hand to accelerate the motorcycle. Repeat this process to shift from third to fourth and fourth to fifth gear as your speed and engine revolutions per minute (RPMs) increase.
