1. Park the ATV on a flat surface and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the chain adjuster bolts on the rear axle. There are two bolts, one on each side of the axle.
3. Loosen the locknuts on the chain adjuster bolts.
4. Turn the chain adjuster bolts clockwise to tighten the chain. Turn the bolts counterclockwise to loosen the chain.
5. The correct chain tension is when you can move the chain up and down about 1 inch (2.5 cm) at the center of the chain.
6. Once the chain is at the correct tension, tighten the locknuts on the chain adjuster bolts.
7. Check the chain tension again to make sure that it is correct.
