- A chain wrench
- A pair of pliers
- A 12mm socket wrench
Follow these steps:
1. Park the fourtrax on a flat surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the chain adjuster bolts on the rear axle. There are two bolts, one on each side of the axle.
4. Loosen the chain adjuster bolts with the 12mm socket wrench.
5. Use the chain wrench to turn the chain adjuster screws clockwise to tighten the chain.
6. Tighten the chain until there is about 1/2 inch of play in the chain.
7. Recheck the chain tension after riding the fourtrax for a few minutes. If necessary, adjust the chain tension again.
Here are some additional tips for tightening the chain on a 1991 Honda Fourtrax 200:
- Make sure that the chain is properly lubricated before you tighten it.
- Do not over-tighten the chain, as this can damage the chain and the sprockets.
- If you are having trouble tightening the chain, you may need to remove the rear wheel to access the chain adjuster bolts more easily.
