Do new brake pads rub against disc on a Honda goldwing?

New or worn brake pads usually don’t rub against the brake discs on a Honda Goldwing, but can do initially during the bedding in procedure before the pads seat down properly.

During the bedding-in period (approx 100 miles), the new pads will leave excess material on the discs. This is to enable the pads to perfectly fit the contours of the discs and reduce pad vibration against the disc surface to a minimum. It is crucial that during the bedding in period that excessive braking or riding two-up for extended periods is avoided as it can cause heat build up on the discs, reduce the bedding in capabilities and glaze the pads. This may make the brakes feel "spongy" when riding.

If the pads are rubbing after the bedding in period, its recommended that the dealer is contacted to rectify this issue.
