Do 2 wheel drive vehicles have CV joints?

Most 2-wheel drive vehicles do not have CV joints on the rear axle. Front-wheel drive vehicles *do* have CV joints on the front axle to allow the wheels to turn while transmitting power. Rear-wheel drive vehicles typically use a simpler drive shaft and differential system without CV joints unless they have independent rear suspension (IRS). Even then, the design might use different type of joints.
