Where do you put the transmission fluid and check it on a 1995 Ford Probe automatic?

The 1995 Ford Probe automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is checked and filled via the transmission dipstick. However, finding it can be tricky on this model. It's not always easily visible like on some vehicles.

The dipstick is usually located near the back of the engine, somewhere in the general area between the engine and the firewall. It's often a long, slender dipstick with a handle that has markings for "ADD" and "FULL" or similar indicators. It might be dark-colored metal or have a bright plastic handle.

Here's how to try and find it:

1. Consult your owner's manual: This is your best bet. It should clearly show the location of the transmission dipstick and any specific instructions for checking and adding fluid.

2. Look carefully around the engine: Start by visually inspecting the engine bay. Pay close attention to the area between the engine and the firewall, focusing on long, slender rods or tubes that might have a handle.

3. Use a flashlight: Engine bays are dark, so a flashlight is essential for a thorough search.

4. Feel around (carefully): Once you've visually checked, carefully feel around in the general area, being mindful not to touch hot components.

Important Note: If you can't locate the dipstick, do not attempt to add transmission fluid blindly. Incorrectly adding fluid can cause serious damage to the transmission. It's best to take your Probe to a qualified mechanic to have the fluid level checked and topped off. They have the proper tools and knowledge to safely perform this task.
