3. Remove the U-Joint: Once the caps are far enough out, you should be able to remove the U-joint by hand or with gentle persuasion.
Method 2: Using a Hammer and Punch (Less Recommended)
This method requires more care and carries a higher risk of damage.
1. Protect the Driveshaft: Wrap the driveshaft yoke with a soft material (e.g., cloth or leather) to protect it from damage during the process.
2. Position the Punch: Gently tap a punch (slightly smaller than the cap's hole) into the center of one of the U-joint's caps.
3. Tap Carefully: Use a hammer to tap the punch, gently driving the cap out of the yoke. Avoid hard impacts, as this can damage the U-joint or the yoke.
4. Repeat: Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the remaining three caps.
