To remove a Jeep Wrangler's wheel, you
do not need to remove the large nut in the middle of the axle rotor (the axle nut). That nut holds the axle shaft together and is only removed during serious axle work, like bearing replacement or axle shaft removal. Removing it is unnecessary and potentially damaging to your Jeep if you're simply changing a tire.
To remove the wheel, you only need to remove the lug nuts on the wheel itself.
