Why is your car wobbling after turns just got new tires?

A car wobbling after a new tire installation could be due to several reasons, even if the tires themselves are fine:

* Improper tire balancing: This is the most common cause. New tires need to be balanced on a machine to ensure the weight is evenly distributed. If this wasn't done properly, or if the wheels weren't properly balanced *after* the tires were mounted, the imbalance will cause a wobble, especially noticeable after turns.

* Improper tire mounting: The tires may not be seated correctly on the rims. This can lead to vibrations and wobbling.

* Wheel alignment issues: While unrelated to the tires themselves, having your wheels aligned is crucial. If the alignment was off *before* the new tires were put on, the problem will be even more noticeable with new, truer-rolling tires. The new tires might highlight a pre-existing problem.

* Damaged wheels: A bent or damaged wheel rim can cause wobbling even with new tires. The impact from a pothole or curb could have gone unnoticed before, but is now more apparent.

* Suspension problems: Issues with the suspension system (shocks, struts, ball joints, etc.) can contribute to wobbling. The new tires might make pre-existing problems more noticeable.

* Incorrect tire pressure: While less likely to cause a significant wobble, incorrect tire pressure can affect handling and subtly contribute to instability.

What to do:

Return to the shop that installed the tires immediately. Explain the problem. They should re-check the tire balance, mounting, and wheel alignment for free or under warranty. If the problem persists, further investigation into the suspension system might be necessary. Don't drive the car extensively with the wobble, as it could cause further damage.
