What is heater core replacement procedure on a 2000 Lincoln Navigator?

2000 Lincoln Navigator Heater Core Replacement Procedure

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Floor Jack and Jack Stands

- Drain Pan

- 5/8" Socket and Ratchet

- 10mm Socket and Ratchet

- Phillips Screwdriver

- Flat-Head Screwdriver

- Pliers

- Coolant

- New Heater Core

- RTV sealant

Step 1: Lift The Car

- Place the floor jack under the car and lift it until the front wheels are off the ground.

- Lower the car onto the jack stands.

- Secure the jack stands in place.

Step 2: Remove Coolant

- Open the radiator drain plug and allow the coolant to drain.

- Catch the coolant in a drain pan.

Step 3: Move the Steering Column

- Enter the vehicle and rotate the steering wheel all the way down.

- There are 4 10mm bolts holding the steering column in place. Remove these bolts and set aside.

- Remove the steering column and set it aside.

Step 4: Remove the Glovebox

- Open the glove box.

- Locate the release tabs on the sides of the glove box and depress them.

- Pull the glove box out and remove it from the dashboard.

Step 5: Remove the Heater Core Cover

- Remove the two 10mm nuts holding the cowl cover in place.

- Remove the upper heater box bolts.

- Gently pry off the heater core cover.

Step 6: Remove the Heater Core

- Disconnect the heater core lines.

- Remove the 5/8" nuts holding the heater core in place.

- Remove the heater core from the dashboard.

Step 7: Reverse steps to install the new Heater Core, reconnect the lines, refill with new coolant, and turn on the car to make sure everything works properly.
