Once you have gathered your tools and materials, follow these steps:
1. Prepare your vehicle. Park your Chevrolet on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
2. Locate the oil leak. Once the engine has cooled down, look under the vehicle for signs of an oil leak. The oil leak will likely be coming from the oil lines near the oil filter.
3. Remove the oil drain plug. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug, which is located on the bottom of the oil pan. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan.
4. Remove the oil filter. Once the oil has drained, use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
5. Install the new oil filter. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. Screw the new oil filter onto the oil filter mount until it is snug. Do not overtighten the oil filter.
6. Replace the oil drain plug. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it until it is snug.
7. Add new oil to the engine. Use the oil funnel to add new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
8. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
10. Check for leaks. Look under the vehicle for any signs of leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
Once you have completed these steps, the oil leak on the lines right by the filter of your Chevrolet should be fixed.
