How to Repair a Leaky Toilet Tank?

Repairing a leaky toilet tank is a simple plumbing task that can be completed in a matter of minutes. Follow these steps to fix a leaky toilet tank:

1. Gather the necessary tools and materials.

- You will need a new flapper valve, a new fill valve, a wrench, a screwdriver, and a pair of pliers.

2. Turn off the water supply.

- Locate the water supply valve behind or underneath the toilet. Turn the valve clockwise to turn off the water supply.

3. Flush the toilet.

- This will empty the tank and make it easier to work on.

4. Remove the old flapper valve.

- Unhook the chain from the flapper valve and remove the flapper valve from the overflow tube.

5. Install the new flapper valve.

- Attach the chain to the new flapper valve and place the flapper valve into the overflow tube. Make sure the flapper is in place and closes properly

6. Adjust the fill valve.

- Turn the screw on the top of the fill valve clockwise to lower the water level in the tank or turn it counterclockwise to raise the water level.

7. Turn the water supply back on.

- Slowly open the water valve until the tank is filled to the desired level.

8. Test the toilet.

- Flush the toilet and make sure there are no leaks.

Note: If the leak persists, you may need to replace the fill valve. To do this, follow the steps above and simply replace the fill valve instead of the flapper valve.
