- Battery: Make sure the battery is properly connected and has enough charge. A weak battery can cause the starter to click but not engage.
- Starter motor: Even though you've had the starter rebuilt twice, it's still possible that it could be the culprit. Check the connections on the starter and make sure it's securely mounted.
- Ignition switch: The ignition switch could also be faulty, preventing the starter from receiving power. Try turning the key to the "on" position and jiggling it slightly to see if the starter engages.
- Wiring: Check the wiring between the ignition switch, starter, and battery for any loose connections or damage.
- Neutral safety switch: The neutral safety switch prevents the starter from engaging when the transmission is in gear. Make sure the switch is working properly and is properly adjusted.
If you've checked all of these things and the starter still doesn't engage, you may need to take your car to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis.
