1. Remove Wheel & Prepare It:
- Lift the bike to access the wheel; use a hanging rope for balance.
- Remove the wheel (quick-release or axle nuts).
2. Clean Rim & Spokes:
- Dirt affects balance; cleanse the rim, tire, and spokes.
3. Prepare Tools:
- Get tools: spoke key (Nipple wrench), balance stand (optional), weights.
4. Spin & Identify Heavy Spot:
- Place a weight on a spoke on the ground.
- Spin the wheel (or use a stand).
- Mark where it stops after rotation (heavy spot).
5. Add Balancing Weights:
- Opposite the heavy spot, add small adhesive weights to an adjacent spoke.
6. Fine-tune Weight:
- Gradually test if the wheel is balanced.
- Fine-tune weights until it spins true.
7. Reattach the Wheel:
- Reinstall the wheel, ensuring even tightness on both sides of the fork or frame.
8. Test Ride & Confirm:
- Take a test ride to confirm your wheel is balanced while pedaling.
Notes:
- For precise balance, use a wheel truing stand.
- Proper spoke tension also contributes to wheel balance.
