How much slack can you have in your adjuster to pass a dot inspection?

According to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 49, Section 393.51, the maximum amount of slack in an adjuster is 2 inches (5.1 centimeters). This measurement is taken with the vehicle at rest and the parking brake applied. If the slack exceeds 2 inches, the vehicle will fail the DOT inspection.
