Tools and Materials:
1.50cc Baja scooter
Replacement drive belt
10mm wrench or socket
Flat-head screwdriver
Rags or towels
Safety glasses
Procedure:
1.Safety Precautions:
Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.
Make sure the scooter is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
2.Locate the CVT Cover:
The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) cover is usually located on the left side of the scooter, near the rear wheel.
3.Remove the CVT Cover:
Use the 10mm wrench or socket to remove the bolts holding the CVT cover in place.
Carefully remove the CVT cover by pulling it straight out.
4.Locate the Drive Belt:
Inside the CVT cover, you will see the drive belt. It is a long, rubber band-like component wrapped around the transmission pulleys.
5.Loosen the Belt Tension:
Using a flat-head screwdriver, loosen the belt tensioner. This will release the tension on the drive belt.
6.Remove the Old Drive Belt:
Now, you can remove the old drive belt by carefully sliding it off the pulleys.
7.Install the New Drive Belt:
Align the new drive belt with the pulleys and gently slide it on.
8.Tighten the Belt Tension:
Re-tighten the belt tensioner to create the necessary tension on the drive belt.
9.Replace the CVT Cover:
Carefully put the CVT cover back in place and secure it with the bolts you removed earlier.
10.Test the Scooter:
Start the scooter and take it for a short test ride to ensure the new drive belt is functioning properly.
Remember, if you are unsure about any step during this process, it's best to consult with a professional mechanic or refer to the scooter's specific service manual.
