It is
not advisable, nor feasible to remove or repair the carburetors on the GL1100 without removing the tank and airbox to gain proper access to all the fasteners. Even when removing the carburetors as a complete assembly requires removing the throttle valve control cables.
You may be able to get two, maybe three, off after removing that top airbox but there's almost nothing to be gained by the extra hassle.
