- 0.8 liters (27oz) of SAE 10W-30 engine oil
- 8mm Allen wrench
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
Instructions:
Preparation:
- Place the motorcycle in an upright position, preferably using a center or paddock stand.
Draining the Old Fluid:
- Locate the transmission fluid drain plug on the bottom of the engine. It is usually an 8mm Allen head bolt.
- Place the oil drain pan below the drain plug to catch the old fluid.
- Use the 8mm Allen wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug.
- Let the old fluid drain completely into the oil drain pan.
Refilling with New Fluid:
- Once all the old fluid has drained, put the drain plug back and securely tighten it.
- Locate the transmission fluid fill plug on top of the engine or on the side of the engine cases. It may also have an 8mm Allen head.
- Remove the fill plug and insert a funnel into the hole.
- Add the fresh SAE 10W-30 engine oil into the funnel. You will need to add about 0.8 liters (27oz) of new oil.
- Add the oil slowly to prevent air bubbles from forming.
Checking the Oil Level:
- Once the oil is added, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes to allow the oil to settle down.
- Use a dipstick or look through the sight glass (if it has one) to check the oil level.
- The oil level should be between the "Full" and "Low" marks on the dipstick or sight glass.
Cleaning Up:
- Once the oil level is correct, remove the funnel and securely replace the fill plug.
- If you accidentally spilled oil on other components of your motorcycle, clean them up immediately.
- Properly dispose of the old oil and the empty container according to your local environmental regulations.
