1. Locate the cam chain tensioner. It is located on the right side of the engine, just below the cylinder head. It is a small, cylindrical object with a bolt passing through its top.
2. Loosen the tensioner bolt. You will need a 12 mm wrench to do this.
3. Turn the adjuster screw clockwise to increase tension or counterclockwise to loosen the tension. You will need a flat-head screwdriver to do this.
4. Tighten the tensioner bolt.Be sure not to over tighten the bolt, as this could damage the tensioner.
5. Restart the engine and listen for any unusual noises. If you hear any, you may need to adjust the tension again.
The cam chain tension should be tight enough to prevent the chain from slapping against the case, but not so tight that it puts excessive strain on the chain or tensioner. If you are not confident in your ability to adjust the cam chain tension, it is best to take your motorcycle to a qualified mechanic.
