Procedure 1: Basic reset
1. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
2. Locate the service connector under the dashboard, usually near the driver's side footwell.
3. Connect a jumper wire between the "M" terminal and the ground. (Check the user manual to confirm the specific terminal assignment).
4. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
5. Remove the jumper wire.
6. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. The malfunction indicator light should turn off if the reset was successful.
Procedure 2: Advanced reset (using a scan tool)
1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle's diagnostic port.
2. Follow the prompts on the scan tool to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) menu.
3. Select the "Reset Malfunction Indicator Light" option or similar.
4. The scan tool will communicate with the ECM to clear the malfunction indicator.
Note: If the malfunction indicator light does not reset, there may be an underlying issue with the vehicle's systems that needs to be diagnosed and repaired. In such cases, it's recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic.
