1. Ensure that the oil level is correct and that the oil is clean. If the oil level is low or the oil is dirty, this may cause the oil light to remain illuminated.
2. Verify the oil filter. A clogged oil filter may also keep the oil light from resetting.
3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
4. Press and hold the "Trip Reset" button on the left side of the instrument cluster.
5. While holding the "Trip Reset" button, turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
6. Continue holding the "Trip Reset" button for about 10 seconds until the oil light resets and goes off.
If the oil light does not reset after following these steps, there may be an underlying issue that needs to be addressed. It's recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic if the oil light remains illuminated.
