Gather necessary tools and parts, including a new vacuum pump, a gasket, brake cleaner, a wrench set, and a screwdriver.
Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery terminals to ensure safety.
Locate the vacuum pump, which is typically mounted on the back of the engine.
Use the wrench set to loosen and remove the mounting bolts or screws securing the vacuum pump.
Carefully remove the vacuum pump, paying attention not to damage surrounding components.
Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with brake cleaner to remove any dirt, grease, or residue.
Place the new gasket on the mounting surface and make sure it's properly seated.
Position the new vacuum pump in its place and align it with the mounting holes.
Tighten the mounting bolts or screws, but do not overtighten them.
Reattach the battery terminals and turn on the engine.
Press the brake pedal several times to check the function of the brake booster.
Note: If the brake booster still does not work properly after this repair, there may be other issues, such as a problem with the master cylinder or brake line leaks, which will require further inspection and repair.
