Tools and Materials Needed
- Replacement grease seal (part number 9N1294)
- Grease gun
- Grease cartridge
- Pry bar
- Block of wood
- Safety goggles
- Gloves
Procedure
1. Park the tractor on level ground and engage the parking brake.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
3. Prop a block under the tractor as an additional safety measure.
4. Put on your safety goggles and gloves.
5. Locate the loader arm that needs repacking. It is the one that connects the lift arm to the loader frame.
6. Use the pry bar to remove the old grease seal from the loader arm housing. Be careful not to damage the housing.
7. Clean the housing thoroughly with a rag and some degreaser. Make sure to remove all traces of old grease and dirt.
8. Apply a thin layer of grease to the new grease seal.
9. Install the new grease seal into the housing. Make sure it is seated properly.
10. Use the grease gun to fill the housing with grease until the old grease begins to come out of the weep hole at the bottom of the housing.
11. Lower the loader arm to work the new grease into the bearings.
12. Reattach the loader arm linkage.
13. Test the loader arm to make sure it moves freely and without any binding.
