Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent any electrical accidents while working on the gearbox.
Raise the vehicle. You will need to raise the van to access the gearbox. You can use a jack and jack stands or a vehicle lift.
Remove the driveshafts. The driveshafts connect the gearbox to the wheels. You will need to remove them to access the gearbox.
Remove the starter motor. The starter motor is located on the side of the gearbox. You will need to remove it to access the gearbox bolts.
Remove the bell housing bolts. The bell housing bolts connect the gearbox to the engine. Once you have removed these bolts, the gearbox will be free to be removed.
Disconnect the clutch slave cylinder. This is located underneath the car, and is attached to the gearbox. You will need to remove the bolts holding it in place, and disconnect the hydraulic line from the master cylinder.
Support the gearbox. You will need to support the gearbox with a transmission jack or similar device before removing it.
Slide the gearbox out. Once you have removed all of the bolts and disconnected the clutch slave cylinder, you will be able to slide the gearbox out of the vehicle.
Once the gearbox is removed, you can replace it with a new or rebuilt one.
