Step 1: Disassemble the Carb
1. Remove the air filter.
2. Disconnect the fuel line.
3. Remove the throttle cable.
4. Disconnect any other hoses or lines connected to the carb.
5. Remove the bolts holding the carb to the engine.
6. Carefully lift the carb off the engine.
Step 2: Clean the Carb Body
1. Spray a carb cleaner into the carb body.
2. Let the carb cleaner sit for a few minutes to dissolve the gunk.
3. Use a small brush to scrub the carb body, paying special attention to the jets and passageways.
4. Rinse the carb body with clean water.
5. Blow dry the carb body with compressed air.
Step 3: Clean the Carb Jets and Passages
1. Use a guitar string or a small piece of wire to clean out the jets and passages.
2. Be sure to clean out all of the small holes in the jets.
3. Rinse the jets and passages with clean water.
4. Blow dry the jets and passages with compressed air.
Step 4: Reassemble the carb
1. Put the jets back into the carb body.
2. Reinstall the air filter.
3. Reinstall the fuel line.
4. Reinstall the throttle cable.
5. Reinstall any other hoses or lines connected to the carb.
6. Reinstall the bolts holding the carb to the engine.
Step 5: Test the carb
1. Turn on the fuel.
2. Hold open the throttle
3. Start the engine.
4. The carb can be adjusted using the carb adjustment screws to increase or decrease airflow.
