1. Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, but do not remove them completely.
3. Place a chock behind the front wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
4. Jack up the rear of the car and support it with jack stands.
5. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels.
6. Locate the brake drum retaining screws. There are two screws located on the back of the brake drum.
7. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the retaining screws.
8. Gently pry the brake drum off of the wheel hub. You may need to use a pry bar or hammer to assist in removing the brake drum.
9. Remove the brake shoes and inspect them for wear. If the brake shoes are worn, replace them before reinstalling the brake drum.
10. Clean the brake drum and wheel hub with a wire brush.
11. Reinstall the brake drum in reverse order of removal.
12. Check the parking brake adjustment before lowering the car.
