Here are the steps to loosen the timing belt:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the serpentine belt.
3. Remove the upper timing belt cover.
4. Locate the timing belt tensioner. It is located on the passenger side of the engine, just below the water pump.
5. Use the 15mm socket wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt.
6. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the tensioner pulley away from the timing belt.
7. Use the 10mm socket wrench to loosen the idler pulley bolt.
8. Remove the timing belt from the pulleys.
Once the timing belt is loose, you can replace it with a new one. Be sure to follow the instructions in the service manual for your vehicle when installing the new timing belt.
